Sprinter starts in the USA

DaimlerChrysler wants to test a test fleet of 20 Dodge Sprinter in the USA until 2008 Plug in hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). Four of the vehicles, which are based still on the previous Sprinter generation, would be already in employment, communicated the enterprise. The vehicles, which are identically constructed with Mercedes the Sprinter, combine Diesel or petrol engines with an electric drive. A part of the vehicles is equipped with lithium ion batteries, which are only half as heavy as conventional nickel metal hybrid batteries and have substantially larger storage capacities.
Particularly on short stages the hybrid Sprinter clearly less fuel is to use. In the pure electrical work the transporter up to 30 can put kilometers back. (off)
